SPORT & BERLIN: AN UNBEATABLE TEAM.
With over 672,000 club members, 2,475 sports clubs and 164 first and second division teams, Berlin's sports are as exciting and varied as the city itself. The diversity of sports on offer in the metropolis of Berlin is reflected on the one hand by the six professional Berlin clubs, 1. FC Union Berlin, Alba Berlin, Berlin Recycling Volleys, Eisbären Berlin, Füchse Berlin and Hertha BSC, and on the other hand, it is also recognised for its wide range of international sporting events. These include European and World Championships in a wide variety of sports, such as the European Athletics Championships in 2018 or the World Handball Championships in 2019, as well as annually recurring events such as the Berlin Six-Day Race or the ISTAF. With its Olympiastadion Berlin, the Mercedes-Benz Arena, the Velodrome, the Max-Schmeling Halle, the An der Alten Försterei stadium and the many state-owned sports facilities, Berlin can boast state-of-the-art infrastructure.
PUTTING BERLIN IN THE LEAD: THE SPORTS MARKETING CAMPAIGN.
The sports metropolis of Berlin conveys values such as integration, community, diversity and togetherness. Apart from being an economic factor for the city, sport in Berlin is of great importance for society and has a high value among the city’s population. As part of Berlin’s branding, a new sports marketing campaign for the city has also been created. The goal of this campaign is to position the sports metropolis of Berlin as an important part of the Berlin brand, to strengthen sport and its relevance in the city and to communicate the values of sports. The campaign aims to reach (sports-interested) Berliners, sports fans and aficionados of the sports metropolis of Berlin. The sport brand ambassadors will be the figureheads for the sports metropolis of Berlin, including the Berlin professional clubs, the BMW BERLIN MARATHON and the ISTAF.
The first motif of the sports marketing campaign stands for all sport in Berlin. Above you can download the current sports motif. Further motifs will be developed in the future, in which various overarching theme motifs will convey the further values of sport.
